How to Plan a Fun House Party on a Budget

House parties are fun events to have especially if you would like to get your friends together for a good time. One of the biggest challenges for many people is the issue of budgeting. There tends be to an unwritten rule that as you plan for a house party you need to have quite a bit of money for you to pull off the best house party. However, you can actually pull off a very wonderful house party on a tiny budget. All you need to do is follow these simple instructions.

Bring Your Own Bottle (BYOB)

The first and most effective way to make sure you cut down costs tremendously is asking your friends to bring their own drinks. This is going to help you shoot several birds with one stone. For starters, each person will bring their specific drink of choice so you will not have to worry about looking for different brands of drinks. Some people tend to have the strangest and rarest choice of drinks and once they come for your house party and their drink of choice is not available, they could feel left out. BYOB allows for them to bring something they will like. Secondly, and quite obviously, you won’t have to foot high bills for drinks. All you have to do is probably provide water, some tea and/or coffee for those who might be teetotolers.

Fun Games

Having games is one very nice way to make sure you have a fun house party at a very low cost. Games are a great way for people to spend some time getting to know each other while enjoying each other’s company. Games like Charades, Cards Against Humanity, Quick Draw, Finishing Song Lyrics, Act it Out, Movie ID, The Wooden Spoon and Name That Tune are a great way to get people having a good time without having to worry about spending much. Most of these games can easily be accessed even through mobile applications so you may not need to spend extravagantly.

Light Snacks

Having light snacks as opposed to a fully fledged meal is something that will go a long way in making sure that you have a lovely house party without having to spend too much. Most light snacks are really easy to prepare and can feed several people. The idea with the snacks is to make sure you have something that your guests can bite on as they go about having fun. As a matter of fact, you can have some of the people coming carry a few snacks with them if they will not be drinking. This way, you will have sorted the issue of having to spend a lot of money and time on food and its preparation.

Video Games

Usually at a house party, there are people who are not big on being part of the other communal games. For such people, you can set aside some video gaming. Quite naturally, video gamers will have no problem bringing their video games to your place if it means they will be a part of the house party and still enjoy their gaming experience. In case you don’t have any video gaming consoles, you can always ask your gaming friends to come with theirs. This will mean that they will come for your house party fully aware that they too will have lots of fun.

Limit the Guest List

One reason people love house parties is because they can get together with their friends and have a good time in a familiar or decent setting. There is no need for you to have very many random people showing up. Trim the guest list and send the invite to people who you are sure will be comfortable being a part of the guest list. Then share some kind of password with them so that when they come over they can easily identify themselves.

DIY Entertainment

The cheapest kind of entertainment is the kind where people offer the entertainment themselves. Therefore instead of hiring, say, a DJ to play the music, play some pre-selected music from a laptop, thumb drive or phone. All you need to do is get speakers that will play the music, connect to the music playing device and you are good to go. There is no need for you to spend a lot of money hiring a DJ because that money could feed so many other people.
