Having the Right Brunch

There is always a strange pressure when people are planning to host parties or get-togethers and this can take away from the fun of what the gathering should be. A brunch is a nice and easy way to organise something that is light and yet very inspiring and fulfilling for everyone who attends. As the organiser, you have fewer things to worry about. All you have to do is fix these things below and you are good to go.

  1. Plan a simple menu

One benefit of a brunch is that you can serve a breakfast menu or a lunch menu or you can go a step further and mix the two. That way, you get a bit of both worlds. You could consider having something as simple as an egg dish and then another fuller dish and then top it up with a simple cocktail. You could then finish this off with some simple dessert or salads at the end. The idea is to have something that is really simple yet tasty and memorable.

  1. Light Meals are perfect

One very clear thing about brunches is that unlike other meals, they do not require much time in preparation. Anything that will require you to spend hours in the kitchen is probably not something you want to have in your brunch menu. So think about having light meals that are easy to prepare and can easily be pulled off without much complication, without too many ingredients and without much ado. The person preparing it must never walk out of the kitchen thinking they’ve been there for hours.

  1. Keep it sweet and simple

Sweet things are a very huge favourite for brunches. Some pancakes, waffles or french toast would be a perfect part of your brunch. You want to make sure that you get the right recipes for these items so that they are truly simple not just to prepare but also to eat. Having sweet things as part of your brunch will surely give your event that sweetness it requires to remind whoever is attending that this is not something as heavy as a fully fledged lunch but it also not the lightest breakfast there is. This is a mixture of the two.

  1. Cocktails and Mocktails are fun

Add some much needed flavour and edge to the brunch by introducing day-time cocktails and mocktails. The goal once again, is to make the event attractive and a little off-script. No one is going to think of cocktails in the morning, right? However brunch is a fun way to sneak in some fun drinks that can be taken during the day. And for those who don’t take cocktails, you can always have mocktails ready for them. By doing this, you are letting people know that this is a fun brunch and they can have a great time.

  1. Juice it up

Another fun idea is to have some juices at your brunch. Once again, as you try to let people have fun and enjoy themselves, you are focussing on making sure they are healthy. Juices are a great way to sneak in healthy drinks even if there are cocktails. You can squeeze some fresh juice that will be used as part of the brunch or as something that will be taken on its own. Either way, when people know they have the option of fresh juice available, they will know that you have gone out of your way to make sure the brunch has options. There is also no harm in having a fruit salad added to the brunch. This will also encourage the idea that the brunch is the perfect blend between breakfast and lunch.

  1. Style is key

With a brunch, what you serve is important but how you serve it is equally important. Make sure you have chosen the right kind of ware to serve your brunch with. Get some classy glassware to use and make sure it is the kind that someone will not forget even if they wanted to. Separate the juices, cocktails and other drinks in pitchers that can easily be identified so that no one can mistake one for the other. Equally, make sure the plates, bowls or dishes you are using are neat and tidy.
